I provide individual counseling to adults. During our sessions, we may pull from any of these treatment approaches, customized for your goals:

  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

  • Mindfulness skills

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Compassion-focused therapy

  • Nonviolent communication

Fees

Initial Assessment | $200

Regular 50-minute appointments | $165

Longer appointments can be arranged for an additional fee.

Payment

I accept the following payment methods:

  • Insurance: I am an in-network provider with Aetna and PacificSource. I’m also able to work as an out-of-network provider for many other plans (see below for details).

  • Self-pay: I accept all major credit cards and checks.

Out-of-network coverage

I’m able to work with clients using out-of-network benefits through their insurance carriers.

In this case, you would pay my full fee at the time of our session, and I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

If you have questions about using out-of-network benefits, please contact me or your insurance company directly.

Here are some questions you may want to ask your insurance representative:

  • Does my plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible? (And what is my policy period?)

  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions my plan will cover per year, out-of-network?

  • What is my co-insurance?

  • Does my plan require pre-authorization for psychotherapy?

  • How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?

Sliding scale

I offer several sliding-scale spots in my practice. Unfortunately, these reduced-fee spots are currently full.

You can find a list of providers that offer reduced-fee services through the Portland Therapy Center or the Open Path Collective.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

I offer proven methods and tools for healing.

I incorporate both traditional talk therapy and newer evidence-based techniques in my practice. Different tools work for different people, and I strive to match my approach to my clients’ needs and preferences.

These modalities help you address left-brained thinking and perceptions while also allowing you to access the wisdom of your right-brained emotions and bodily sensations — a powerful approach to deeper mind-body healing.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people recover from trauma, anxiety, phobias, negative self-image, and more. It uses bilateral stimulation to aid in processing trauma stored in your nervous system. It’s a great way to address deep-seated feelings that haven’t shifted through talk therapy. Learn more.

Relational and Experiential Therapy

Effective therapy starts with forming a positive relationship between the therapist and the client. With training in many supportive therapies — including psychodynamic approaches, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), nonviolent communication, and compassion-focused therapy, among others — I will weave through these modalities to match your goals and the issues you bring to our sessions.
